Big dolly eyes [current makeup] Tutorial~

Wow, I didn't think that my eye makeup would be this requested... Haha;;

It's a basic gyaru eye, but instead of a smokey eye~ I used a simpler eyeshadow technique.

But it's actually pretty easy, so, explaining it with a pictorial shouldn't be hard~

Like any makeup look you may need a bit of practice to get it right but it will come easily after you get the hang of it.

What you will need for big dolly eyes:

Circle Lenses [optional, but helps~ I have a few sponsors on the right side of my blog that I highly recommend!]

3 colours in the same colour family [best time to use a palette or quad], I used:

• Urban Decay 'Vanilla'
• Urban Decay 'Baked'
• Urban Decay ''Twice Baked

Liquid Eyeliner

1. Using the lightest colour 'Vanilla', use your finger to apply it to the inner corner of your eyelid.

2. Using the medium colour 'Baked', using your finger apply it to the outer corner of your eyelid and blend it into the lighter colour in the center.

3.Using a stiff small brush or 'q-tip', apply the darkest colour 'Twice Baked' in a moon shape along your outer eyelid and into your crease then using your finger or a blending brush blend it out but retaining the shape.

[Optional, if you need help blending~ use a vanilla or shadow 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone to help blend the darkest colour to disperse evenly~]

4. Using the darkest colour 'Twice Baked' and a stiff brush or 'q-tip', create a comma or curved triangle shape under your eye and tapering in where your pupil is. Connect it to the shadow on your eyelid, it should frame your outer eye. [widest part is roughly 7mm past your natural eye shape]

5.Using the lightest shadow 'Vanilla' and a stiff brush or 'q-tip', apply it to the inner corner of the eye and blend it into the darkest shadow.

6. Apply the liquid liner slightly above the inner corner of the eye to create space, and meeting the line along the lash line. [when you close your eyes the line should be a straight line instead of following the natural shape of the inner corner, you may see a very small gap~]

7. Wing the liner, not in a 'cat eye' and angled up, but more of a straight line and elongating it roughly 1cm past your lash line

8. You can tell the line is more straight than a normal 'cat eye', but because it's elongated it will still be a wing but will make your eye line look longer.

9. Apply the top false lashes. Make sure you trim any plastic that extends farther than the false lashes for comfort.

I apply the outer corner first, placing it on the wing, 2mm above the natural lash line and 5mm past the natural lash line. The lash then meets the natural lash above th pupil and sits above the natural lash or as close to it as possible towards the inner lash.

10. Apply the bottom lashes. Also make sure they're trimmed accordingly for comfort.

I apply the outer corner first, placing it 2-4mm below the end of the top lash and placing the inner part of the bottom lash along the lash line, like above.

[You will have to practice application and your personal preferences and adjusting the measurements to best suit your eye shape and face shape!]

 I have been using this look quite often lately because it's very fast but still makes my eyes look a lot bigger.

I think it looks very nice for daytime or night time.

Please remember that practice and patience is your friend and if you've always wanted to try lashes, you just have to take the jump into using them practicing and trying to perfect application.

[always remember to use an even application of glue and a very thin strip of glue and to wait till it gets slightly tacky<3]

LA Book Fair~

Bright and early Saturday morning, my friends and I took the short 25 minute drive to the USC campus for the LA book fair~

Full of books, booths, advertisements, mascots, music, food and book signings it's a great way to spend a summer like day<3

The campus was brimming with people and booths everywhere.

Every corner on the map had it's own unique stage that had live music playing!

On the far end, after an hour of perusing booths, we found Food Truck heaven!

My friends and I were drawn to the amazing smell of India Jones

Butter Chicken curry, reduced rice serving, naan bread and young coconut~ such a yummy lunch!

My friend got us tickets to a panel for this book about vampires and werewolves that's becoming a movie, it was really interesting! [I can't for the life of me remember the book name... Like Bones in the City?]

They were revving the engine of the bat mobile and it was TERRIFYING! It was like the sound of the end of the world! So loud and scary!

We also stumbled upon a huuge crowd and later we found out they were watching Lemony Snickett*sp who is a big author~

After a long day wandering the campus and just having a good relaxing time we wandered over to the Mystery Machine so I could snap a few pictures!

Hehehe~ I was a happy camper!

Such a long but satisfying day!

Hard Bound Book Tutorial~

 One of my favourite crafts to do is to make hard bound books~
It's relatively cheap, easy and a fun way to customize books at home or even make your own book.

What you will need:

Cardboard or Posterboard

Fabric or paper

Rubber Cement 

Exacto Knife

Needle

Thread

Book

Optional:

Paper puncher

Decorative paper

Decorations

Stack of paper

I will start with making your own book which is optional~

 With a stack of paper, fold them in half and make them even and stack them within each other~
Using your exacto knife, puncture through the stack through the fold at even intervals.

[you can also do the same thing with a hole punch

 Then using a needle and thread, sew the pages together, using the holes made with the exacto knife or hole punch and make sure it's bound well.

Binding the book:

 Cut two pieces of cardboard/card stock/posterboard to the size of the book.
If you have a thicker book, also cut a strip the length and width of the book's spine.

Cut a piece of fabric or paper an inch- two inches larger than the cardboard pieces laid out.

Pieces should be laid out roughly 1/4-1/2 inch a part... 

If you have the extra spine you will need to cut your fabric like the diagram above~

And that's how the pieces should be laid out.

 Without a spine, the cuts should just be on the corners~
Using the rubber cement, glue the cardboard peices down to the fabric or paper and make sure it's glued nice and flat.

 Then, glue the outer flaps onto the cardboard too~ Make sure everything is nice and neat.

 Then take your book and glue the covers to the cardboards. If you have the spine, DO NOT GLUE THE SPINE!

 Then, optional, you can cover the book ends with nice paper so you can't see any excess fabric or the book covers.

Then just glue on decorations, and you are done~

A nicely bound custom hard cover book!

I hope I explained it clearly~ It really is simple to do, and it only took me like, 20 minutes to make and it looks so cute!

New Polaroid Camera!

I'm so excited! Last week, on a whim, I ordered a Fujifilm Instax Mini 7S polaroid camera~

Not just any polaroid but a special edition Pony Brown designed camera..

[Which runs roughly over $100 USD]

So it's super cute looking and really fits my style<3

The Instax Mini is the new version of polaroid camera, it's no longer bulky and block shaped but more petite roughly 4 1/2 inches up and across.

Inside the box it comes with instruction manual, arm strap, 4 batteries and stickers for the polaroid.

Film must be purchased separately, which isn't cheap and only comes in packs of 10 pictures, similar to the old polaroids....

Also the camera now has adjustments for indoor, cloudy lighting, fine lighting and clear lighting so that the pictures will come out the best..

Another little fact is that the flash always goes off regardless of situation.... So I guess that can be inconvenient at times.

The shutter is very sensitive, and the camera is very user friendly! It's also very compact and fits in my purse very neatly.

The film for the camera is roughly the size of a credit card, and develops in a minute and it's very cute!
I've so happy with my purchase..
And I feel like I'll get a lot of use from it and besides the price of film, it's so worth it because the end product is very nice and brings back memories of my youth<3

My friend above is leaving to move out of state so I am giving her a polaroid of us to keep forever<3
And since the picture is credit card sized, it's very convenient to keep [and decorate]!

Magical Girl Fionna nails~

I got my nails done again at Atlas Studio, the wonderful Yoko did them and she is amazingly sweet and so artistic. She is now going to be my main nail artist, I've decided<3 

This time they are inspired by a panel of the latest Fionna and Cake comic that I fell in love with.

I'm so happy with them!

[I also have one nail extension now;; I broke a nail last month and she fixed it for me and my nails look perfect!]
