Royal-T Maid Cafe and other things

So, my friend and I paid a visit to Royal-T in Culver city.. It wasn't my first time there, so I kind of knew what to expect, but it was my first time trying the food...
You walk up to this 'hedge' covered entrance and walk past the mini store on your left and giant mod art on your right and are greeted by this. Not really how one expects a maid cafe to look. It's very minimalistic and sort of reminds me of what 'Urban Outfitters' would look like if it were a restaurant. One thing I did enjoy was the crowd. It was collage kids and older and the atmosphere was really laid back and relaxed. There were also some families and the kids were really well behaved so my friend and I were really impressed.
There was even a dj that was playing trance music kind of loudly... Er, the music in general was kind of loud, so it was a bit distracting from our conversation...
Any who, my friend and I came prepared with a good amount of money because I was ready for the food to be pricey and oh was it pricey... Thank goodness the tea was US$4.50 for a small pot... At least it was relatively normal priced. I'm also not sure how organized the staff was that day cause we were asked to place our beverage order by 4 different servers, not like I don't mind, I really don't.. But 4 servers asking is a bit excessive.
Though, I kind of really love the mod art used as decor, I would have loved to go look at every piece but that would have been really awkward seeing as there were patrons eating where the art is showcased.
Oooh la la, my friend's tea was super pretty and yummy... I kind of wish that they gave us honey and for some reason, it was hard to flag down a waitress, go figure...
My Royal milk T.... It was okay and a bit on the bland side, er, very much on the bland side... Maybe I expect too much? My friend really liked it though, so it might just be me..
Any who, we finally ordered, and my friend got yakisoba and I, the salmon rice bowl..
Mmm, her yakisoba looked really yummy, I believe hers was around $12 usd? They really gave a lot~
My salmon bowl which was around $14 usd? Which is pretty expensive for a salmon and rice dish, at least for me. Not to mention that the salmon was really bland and almost on the dry end which is not what expect when I pay $14 for a dish... I really liked the soy beans that were cooked in balsamic vinegar, that was my favorite part of the dish. I don't even know why I ordered a rice dish because I didn't eat the rice because I don't really like rice that much...
When we were finished, it also took some time to flag down a waitress for our check.
I really wanted to ask for a picture of one of them but 3 out of the 4 waitresses we had were very brisk and curt, I'm sure there'es a reason for that but it kind of rubbed me the wrong way so I didn't want to ask them.. There was on waitress who was super sweet and cute with a brow piercing that I wish I asked, but she was super busy and I didn't want to bother her, so alas, we paid and left without a picture of the maid costumes...

But, I'm going back this weekend to try dessert or something... My friend I went wish is actually writing a paper about maid cafes or something so she is researching this place and she needs to chat with an employee next visit. Hopefully it goes better next week and hopefully I can get a few good pictures of their uniform.
The giant abstract art as we were leaving...

I felt kind of bereft afterwards and thank goodness Cool Haus was just down the street [previous entries 1,2,3]
Always amazing and fun service and delicious dessert for a great price! <3<3 I seriously have an obsession with this place!
Mmm, the delicious menu~
I ended up getting the Tahitian Vanilla, and oh my gosh! I'm so infatuated with that flavor! I think it's my absolute favorite now, like, more so than any of the previous ones I've had.
My friend got the baked apple pie which was so scrumptious and ad apple chunks and really tasted like apple pie a la mode~

We then decided to go take some puri before the day ended.

This is our favorite machine, not only because it's really good but because we were invited to be the first ones to use it when it came in <3
You can kind of see my outfit in this shot, so I'll do an outfit break down right here,
Dazzlin' tiger sweater
H&M geode necklace
Vintage Guess jean jacket
Tiered maxi skirt from eBay
Nike Rio high tops

I seriously love taking puri because it's so fun! <3<3
And I'm so happy my friend had some free time to hang out!
Oh, on another note, I tried out that new blush trend I've been seeing lately, the one where blush is only applied underneath the eye.. I believe it's been Momoko and a Kera model I've been seeing it on as of late and I'm still on the fence if I love it or hate it...
^^^
Something like this, but there are more pictures out there that I've seen but can't find, but you get the picture...

Yepp.

Strawberry Drip nails

Ooh la la, a cute and fun nail, just perfect for spring weather.
I feel like it's very easy to achieve and super fun to make~
I'm also trying a new nail tutorial layout, please tell me if you find it easier this way.
For this look I used:
Rite Stripe nail polishes in; White, Pink and Green.
ORLY 'Flirty Girl'
ORLY 'Fifty Four'
Top Coat
Oh yeah, if anyone was curious, this is how the 'Rite Stripe' brushes look, they're really thin so I can easily use them for detailing my nails.

Now, for the nail drip nail:

2 examples you can use for nail drips... I use the first because I find it easier.

I then finished it off with a coat of 'Fifty four' and a top coat after that.

For the striped nails and the base for the strawberry nail:
For the light pink, I used 'Flirty girl' which is quite sheer, so I had to use 3 coats for an opaque finish.

I paint my stripes by laying the 'Rite Stripe' flat on my nail, like above, and I just drag it across my nail to make that step easy for me.
Also, if you have those nail tapes, they would make the stripes easier and much evener.

How to make the strawberry:

I just outline the rounded portion of the strawberry, extending it quite low, those lines become the 2 outer leaves, then I make a slightly higher dome on top of the outlined strawberry top. Lastly, I make the middle leaf by connecting the outer lines with a triangle in the center.

There you go, I hope you enjoy my 'Strawberry Drip' nails!

Kidnapped~

This weekend was ultra fun!
My friend and I drove up to Malibu to pick up my friend's cousin who we call, 'Boho'. Ugh, she is like the best cousin to exist! I wish I had such lovely family members, or even a girl relative, but alas, I'm the only girl... Any ways....
We decided to 'kidnap' her or whatever... So, on Saturday morning, we woke her up at 5 am to get ready for what we explained as an impromptu road trip, which we tend to do every time she comes down. Once we were all ready to go and in the car, we told her to throw on this blind fold/sleeping mask and some headphones and I placed a sign around her neck and we whisked her away to Disneyland!
Since we parked in the parking structure, I decided to piggy back her from the lot to the elevators and then we walked to the park and oh boy, that was one interesting adventure in it's self~ So, we walked her right smack dab in the center between California Adv and Disneyland and facing the park and we took out her headphones and told her to take off the mask and SURPRISE!
The sign said, 'Shhh.. Please don't spoil the surprise!' Oh goodness was she excited!
I am confidant to say that we're pretty awesome aunties.

I decided to wear my white Minnie ears again and my Liz Lisa coat because it was quite chilly that morning.
I was also wearing a pink 3/4 bat wing slouch tee with lace backing and my tiered white lace skirt that I paired with my tan thigh high socks and J.C Litas.
Btw, my litas were so super comfy through out the day.. My socks on the other hand were very annoying.
I also saw this girl with this amazingly cute Totoro hoodie! Even the chest of her coat had a Totoro tummy and the hood had those cute Totoro eyes! I was so envious and wanted to ask for a picture with her... But alas, I was just a creeper and took pictures of her from afar... 0.0
Boho and my friend~ Weh, she SO doesn't look like she just turned 16!
Yeah, later in the day it got really sunny and hot so I stole my friend's sunglasses and it was also very breezy and my allergies got quite bad and I cried off all my eye makeup so, I collected a ton of napkins to dab the tears away.... Poor me, claritin barely works on me..
Also, the lines for all the rides at Disneyland got super long, like, a majority of them were over an hour so we all decided to just chill at the Tiki room for a few shows and gorge on Dole whip. <3
Oh, the god of the land or the father god[?] at the Tiki room has little spirits that remind me of the spirits in Princess Mononoke ~ I was so intrigued!
Oh yeah, I'm not the only one who dresses up for Disneyland! My friend was also wearing her Captain EO shirt. We always wear a Disney plush bag/backpack and a Disney hat or top every time we go!
Nom nom nom Dole whip <3
Nom nom nom popcorn... We also decided to catch the parade that day before we left!
It's really sad though, I think my leap day experience kind of ruined the magic a bit for me... I got really paranoid when the park started getting crowded. It also didn't help that I kept getting, what Boho dubbed, 'bitch glares'... But, I assume it was because of my heels and it only came from girls...
Also, one of the final straws that lead us to leaving early was that this group of teenage[?] tweenage[?] guys were heckeling us and were screaming literally in my friend's ear and just being jerks to us and I ended up snapping and mouthing them off which let them to becoming more vicious to us... UGH. I was so tempted to take a picture of them to give to security or to post on my blog to give some faces to the story... But, I'm not the vindictive...
Blah, I never thought I'd see the day when Disneyland has become a place where I don't feel safe or comfortable...
But, I still do enjoy my time there and it's still fun when it's sort of empty in the mornings <3

When we came back, Boho was playing some drawing game, I think it's called Draw with me??? with her boyfriend and he used it to ask her to prom and it was cute and she was so happy!
I managed to take a picture when it was happening! They're too cute.
After, we went to eat at Milk and Honey in Cerritos and enjoyed a CocoxBanana brick toast and some tea and snacks. The highlight was the brick toast though...

It had bananas, custard, whipped topping, oreos, chocolate ice cream, kiwis, choco pocky, choco wafer cookie, and other delicious things on and in it! NOM!

Seriously, the look on Boho's face in the back is just so befitting the picture!
Demolished~

This weekend was quite lovely and I'm sad that it had to end, but that's okay because that means for another adventure!

[sorry for the long span of emptiness. I want to try to put out a blog post every Thursday evening... I'll see how that goes. <3]
